The sound of silence.

I am working again on my black and white images from Africa. On “the sound of silence” project I added three new images.  Have a look at the new ones. I am hoping soon  to be able to make a portfolio with only black and white images from Africa.

The last couple of weeks I am into black and white mood with photography. I wanted to turn some of my wildlife photos into black and white as soon as I returned from my trip, but no matter what I was doing, I did not like. I was sure though that Africa is looking gorgeous in her black and white dress. My first images of Africa after all, as a child, was the black and white episodes of Tarzan on the famous TV series.

I ve been checking the b/w work of the masters to get some inspiration and I discovered so many different visions. I had to step back and find what I wanted to show.

I had the idea on my head. I wanted my pictures to convey mood. The mood of the african savannah. As I was dodging and burning, applying filters I was getting different vibes. Could not tell what it was but the more I was looking the more I was getting there.

Maybe it is just me that I was there and I can easily relate to the feeling but I feel that in some of them there is this …silence.

When the light goes down there is a weird silence in the savannah.

It is not silence as in the actual meaning of the word.  It is silence  interrupted by  the sounds of the Savannah.

You gaze at the animals feeding or moving peacefully in the silence

feeling but not seeing the predators around you.

I hope you can feel the mood in some of them.
